Dear Friends, Israel’s war with Hezbollah this summer began with the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers across the northern border. It followed by three weeks the kidnapping of another soldier by Hamas across the border of the Gaza Strip. As winter comes to the Middle East, Udi Goldwasser, Eldad Regev and Gilad Shalit remain in the hands of terrorists - alone and cut off >from everything they have ever known. We had hoped that a way would have been found to bring them home already, but the passage of time gives us no reason for greater optimism. None of us can stand idly by when we have a chance to raise our voices on their behalf and in concert with the voices of their families.
There is a coalition of Jewish organizations, programs and schools who are involved in a nation-wide outreach effort on behalf of Israel’s kidnapped soldiers. The goal is to secure 1,000,000 signatures on a letter to the new Secretary General of the UN by mid-February, at which time a major event, involving the families of the soldiers, will be convened to present the letters. The campaign is described in simple detail at the web site www.freethesoldiers.org. (the letter is copied below)
Join us in our effort to bring international attention to their plight by adding your name to the petition at this website - www.freethesoldiers.org.
Help us to make sure that their families know that they are not alone in their struggle to bring their sons, their brothers and their husbands home.
It will only take a moment to take add your name. Then, we have one more request. Take another moment to send this e-mail to everyone you know. When we reach one million signatures, we will join organizations from across the Jewish world in delivering our petitions to the UN and to the halls of power everywhere.
Your partnership is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Dear Mr. Secretary-General,
We respectfully ask that you join us in clearly and immediately demanding the release of the three Israeli soldiers kidnapped by Hezbollah and Hamas this past summer. We urge you to do everything in your power to help secure their release by implementing U.N. Security Council Resolution 1701, which requires Hezbollah and the Lebanese government to release Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev. Further, we urge you to demand that Hamas unconditionally release Gilad Shalit. We also request that you garner information about, and demand the release of, Israel’s other missing soldiers, Zachary Baumel, Tzvi Feldman, Yehudah Katz, Ron Arad and Guy Hever. We are simultaneously delivering copies of these petitions to members of the United States government, including President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and members of the U.S. Congress.Thank you for your attention.
